About the Project
The project Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for all project (SSH4A) was implemented by Caritas Nebbi with support from SNV Uganda through the DFID . The SSH4A project was a four-year project that was implemented in Zombo district in the 5 sub counties of Warr, Kango, Zombo, Zeu and Jang-okoro and targeted 30,000 people.
Programme Development Goal
To strengthen the capacity for steering and implementation of sanitation demand creation, capacity for sanitation supply chains and finance, behavioural change communication and stretherning the capacity for WASH governance
In accord with the over aching framework above, Caritas Nebbi carried out reconnaissance in Kango Sub county, Zombo District an exercise which involved seeking the buy in by the different stakeholders and collection of data about the then sanitation and hygiene practices.
By the end of the project, there was evidence of an increase in the key sanitation facilities coverage in the two parishes of Alube and Oliri. e.g, at the point of baseline, the latrine coverage in the two parishes stood at 70.5%. This has increased to 79.5% after two months of implementation. This led to achievement of the project objectives of declaring the sub county Open Defecation Free. With the necessary support from Lower Local Government Leadership, Caritas Nebbi made a strides in attaining the project goal
